Effective Classroom Strategies

Storyboard Text

  • Slide: 1
  • The first effective classroom strategy I will use in my classroom is consistency!
  • We will start every class period off with attendance and go over expectations for the class that day.
  • The last part to consistency is having clear consequences. Every student will have the same consequences no matter gender, grades, or participation.

  • The second effective classroom strategy I will use is positive reinforcement
  • I will focus more on pointing out the good accomplishments and behaviors I see in class. I will give verbal praise and even give candy for finishing assignments and tests
  • I will also have a list of classroom privileges. This will include free time and class parties.
  • Not only will I give individual praise, I will verbally praise the whole class for good behavior. I will also prioritize sending emails home to parents for positive behavior.

  • Students will learn to "go inside their own shell" to get back to a calm state.
  • The third classroom strategy I will use is called the turtle technique. This helps students recognize their emotions.
  • After students have calmed down and found positive ways to respond they can "come out of their shell" without acting out and move on with the day
  • They will identify their emotions and how that makes their body want to react. Then they can take a few deep breaths before thinking of positive ways to respond to these negative emotions

  • After that we will go through the lecture and have an activity or worksheet that follows.
