- on June 1914 archduke was assassinated this later lead to WWI because soon after this Hungary would later declare war on Serbia which led to WWI. the person who killed the archduke was gavrilo principal who was at the time only 23 years old she would later die In 1918 from tuberculosis.

- on may 7, 1915 the lusistania was sunk by a german U-Boat and contained about 120 american passengers which would later be one of the reasons that America would join the war. the germans used unrestricted submarine warfare. although many Americans died In fear of America ending up in the war the german decided to be wearier for a while

- the Zimmerman telegram was a secret diplomatic communication sent from Germany to Mexico it stated something along the lines of Germany asking for the aid of Mexico to help take down America and if successful they would assist Mexico with their funds. but it was later intercepted by the British which was then gave to the president and later cause America to declare war on germany.
