- Exposition
- Melaine sat in the booth. She closed her eyes and was dreaming about flamingos. She dreamed about hundreds of flame-colored birds waddling in the shallow lake. She pictured the flamingos she had seen in an old book. All of a sudden a buzzer went off and she opened her eyes and the door slid open and she went to find her mom. Her mom helped her put on her smog mask and eye protection because of the thick poisonous air outside.

- On our way home, she wondered when dad or mom would take her to see flamingos in the natural park it was the last place to find flamingos. Her parents half-promised her during Christmas vacation to take her. But that one day came, and she was going to see them in real life. When she went to the city it was clear the sun was bright as the light that went off at the booth(simile) and the air was so clean.

- I want to see flamingos it is the last place to find them!
- Climax
- When she was at the park she saw a flamingo that was hiding behind a rock. She went closer but it didn't move. Her dad was calling for her but she didn't listen She went to touch the flamingo and fell and floated on the water and splashed (onomatopoeia) It was a plastic bird that they stuck in the mud.

- Falling Action
- Dad ordered Melanie to get out. The caretaker said that we had flamingos years ago but they all died and we knew that people came here to see flamingos so we put a fake one. We have pictures and old movies about flamingos. They need more than this island to survive. The water decame too poisoned for them to live.
- We put fake ones but we had real one years ago!
- Resulation
- Melanie stopped crying as she heard everything that the caretaker said. She picked up the flamingo and put it away how it was and whispered Goodbye and turned away and left.
- Goodbye
- Melaine had to accept the fact that she would never be able to see a flamingo.
