Hi, my name is Bobby Winebrenner. I just got here to Miami University and I already have an email from some guy named Professor Zoeckler, what could this be.
The email is about bringing in some object that displays our curiosity. Uh oh. I am not creative at all. What the hell am I gonna bring in and how in the world will I survive in this class?
I guess my stuffed animal Orangutan is something that most others don't have. I don't know, maybe it shows my creative side and love for orangutans too!
Hi class, my name is Professor Z. While many of you may be worried about this course, don't be! There's more to creativity than just being able to draw and sing. I'm gonna help you discover that.
Jeez, we're probably going to have to draw and stuff in here. I'm really gonna struggle with this class.
As you guys watched in the TED Talk, Ken Robinson makes a great point. Our current school system is killing your creative brains, so here in ESP 103, we're going to reteach creativity to you because 98% of you were creative at heart! You just lost some of it so Spencer and I are here to bring it back.

"How's ESP going for you guys?" "Not bad for me, I'm actually pretty creative so it's easy."
Hey guys, I'm Spencer! I'm a sophomore here and I was in your exact shoes last year. Don't worry and let me know if you need help!
Thank god, that class doesn't sound so bad anymore. It's definitely a nice and fun refresher too from the other FYIC courses. Anyways, I gotta start brainstorming some ice-cream flavors.
It is so hard to come up with 103 flavors of ice cream. Grrr, this is taking forever I don't know if Prof. Z knows that absolutely none of these make any sense at all. I wish I was just more creative...
How long did it take you guys to do that assignment? 30-40 minutes? You're not alone; to improve innovation, you have to realize not all your ideas will be good ones.
It's important to put aside the fear of judgment over these ideas and spew the crazy one's out. I want you to get in groups and brainstorm pizza flavors; you can't leave until you come up with 103.
Maybe I am more creative than I thought? Wait, focus focus! Keep thinking flavors. Who cares if they're tasty!
Here are some of the habits I'm trying to break! While they may be difficult to read, I'm a very green person and like to keep things the way they are. Especially my phone in right pocket, and wallet in back left.
"Bobby you've got some funny ideas haha." "Yeah you're really spitting them out quick." "Keep going and we can get let out early!"
Uh oh, it's still not that simple for me. All the homework assignments take forever and I still don't have the best ideas.
I want you guys to think of something you're curious about. Spend some time digging into that.
It doesn't have to be business related either. Just spend an hour looking into something and interview a professional in that field

I really like how we're able to explore something that we're intrigued by. With Game of Thrones and other political affairs, it's nice to be able to stretch my brain a little and dive into subjects I might not otherwise.
So guys another way to improve our creative mindsets is to change our everyday habits and go away from what we've always done.
Let's practice changing some of our habits and seeing what we can accomplish and move on from.
You gotta be kidding me.

103's definitely going a lot better than I anticipated. I'm learning new meanings of curiosity and creativity and feeling that these can apply to me. While I'm still not the most divergent thinker, I'm learning the value of risk.
If we learn to deal with rejection and failure, we will not be as afraid to share our ideas, and in turn, spew out better ones and increase our divergent thinking.
Another backbone of the creative mindset is dealing with rejection.
I guess if I can think of the actual impact of rejection, and realize it's not that bad, it won't be as scary.
I feel like I'm becoming a better thinker. While I may still not have the most creative mind, I'm definitely always thinking about what we talk about in class and trying to become a better idea-maker.
Here in Colorado, the impact of judgement I may receive is minimal. I'm going to try and get some free food at the restaurants we go to and see what they say!
Just secured a free drink and snagged some discount tacos. When the implications of rejection aren't high, might as well ask for some free things.
After going through a few weeks of ESP 103, I've realized the importance of tapping into my right brain and expanding my curiosity.
