- That's how we do.
- It's the last squad.
- And that is how I made it to Platinum.
- Fine, you got me, jerk. Go ahead and pillage the treasury, but you should know you're only stealing from yourself.
- Gryphon and Backslash(Miles and Rhys in real life) are in a battle royale, about to face the last squad. They are playing Mecha Melee and chose to be a Pyro and a Blade Mech, playing together, with Gryphon at 14 wins here and Backslash at 22. Gryphon just took out a Blaster Mech with his reflection shield and fire beam. The last squad they are about to see is Talon Clan, a Sniper and a Bruiser Mech. Later, after winning, Miles tells his friends about the win, with Rhys unknowingly sitting at the same table.
- Battlecon is coming to Phoenix! I better tell Mom and Dad and ask them if i can go! After all, I've been on that blackout for way to long.
- Miles and Rhys in North Mesa Middle School. They don't really pay attention to each other much, which Rhys wants since he doesn't want anyone to know about what happened at his old school, Harris Prep. In fact, Rhys doesn't want anyone to notice him at all except his parents, and his online and real friend Miles. He instead walks by others without saying anything and goes to his classes and does academically well.
- Boss battle, baby. Come on now, let's dance.
- Sure! Here's how you do it...
- There was a complicated recess this day. Luke, one of Miles' friends, decides to bully Rhys by taking his phone and playing keep away with his friends, including Miles. Rhys tries to convince Miles to give it back, but ultimately Miles sends the text that Luke and one of his other friends made. That night, Miles is waiting for Backslash to get on the game, but finds that their stronghold is being raided. Assuming it's Talon Clan, he gets on the stronghold to find Backslash raiding and destroying the stronghold. Later, Miles doesn't eat any of his food at dinner and gets into and argument with Dad that takes away his games.
- Hey, Rhys, can you teach me how to do the math homework? I didn't understand it. Like, at all.
- Jumping to a week later, Miles shockingly finds out that Battlecon, a video game convention, is coming to Phoenix, where they live. He then asks his mom and dad if they can go in 8 weeks. Since the blackout was over a week by now, and the convention sounded like something special, they agreed to let him go to Battlecon and the Every Game Ever Tournament there.
- At the Every Game Ever tournament, the qualifying round is Star Flyer, with the top 64 out of the thousands there moving on. Miles names himself Gryphon, and get over a million score, and qualifies. He then beats the next two rounds before going against Viper, a girl who beats him easily. Frustrated, Miles sits on a bench with the family, soon going to eat. When the final two are announced, Backslash and Viper came on to the stage, and Miles immediately runs to the main theater. Rhys picks Miles while Viper picks her best dude Sidewinder in Spell Slam. They exchange hits and soon a combo of water and lightning takes out Viper and Sidewinder at once, giving Gryphon and Backslash the win.
- Rhys' first school he went to was Harris Prep, where he got kicked out for biting a bully, which was why he got bullied in this school. Because of this, he doesn't really want to be noticed at all. But after the Every Game Ever tournament, he is a popular kid in the school, but in a good way. Because he's good academically, kids ask him for help.
