- Chere Salome, Merci beaucoup pour la meilleure semaine de ma vie! Je continue de rever a nos temps a la tour Eiffel et a la nuit sur la Grande Roue et tous les autres choses que nous avons fait. J'ai deja achete le billet pour ton vol aux Etats-Unis - juste prend une date! Je suis tres ravie d'introduire mes amies a Gad Elmaleh et de porter toutes mes nouvelles vetement de Pull et Bear a l'ecole. Tu me manquerais trop et je n'attend pas pour nos adventure prochaine. Bisou, Emma
- I had twenty more minutes left with her before I had to head back to the US. My week with my French correspondent and her family had been absolutely incredible. I knew that saying "au revoir" would not be easy.
- But who will I take a picture with everyday?
- In my best French, I wrote a note to Salome on the whiteboard in her room minutes before leaving. I wanted to express my gratitude for everything from allowing me to be a guest at her family's Passover Seder to showing me the night lights of the Eiffel Tower.
- Ugh. I don't want to have to go back to eating American croissants.

- In the foyer of her apartment building there was a mirror and most days we would take a photo together in the mirror before heading out the door. This would be our last one for a while.
- Before we knew it, we were out the door and walking to school. On the way, it was so long to le pattiserie (bakery) which he had passed every day walking to school. Not even the warm smell of croissants could make us happy about our parting.
- Once we arrived at school, the first thing I did was say goodbye to Noa and Valentine, friends of Salome's who had also participated in the exchange. I had become super close with them and I was already beginning to miss them.
