- A woman that was young and the prettiest. She wanted to marry a rich man and be rich but instead she got married with a pretty poor guy.
- Her husband was giving her everything he could afford and gave her food and was happy with what he got. The woman complained about not having what she wants and imagined what she could have had.
- The guy got an invitation to invite his wife to an expensive dinner to go too. She was annoyed about it at first until her husband agreed to buying her jewlery and a nice dress for the party.
- The woman then borrowed a shiny diamond necklace that she loved from her rich friend but then she had lost the necklace on her way home from a cab.
- The married couple were trying to look everywhere for the neckalce and got nothing. They tried all day but decided to buy the necklace itself to replace the one they lost which costed them a fortune of 36,000 francs.
- The woman found her friend and confessed to her about what she had done and she had to wait ten years to finally pay all of the necklace off. Her friend told her that the neckalce was way cheaper then what she bought it for and it only costed her 500 francs.
