Farming was challenging. There was very little flat land. The Land was very rocky, and water was scarce. So Greek farmers grew crops on hills and planted things like olives and grapes because they needed less land. People sometimes even fought over good farmland.
I finally found flat land, but it is so rocky and dry. Why is it so hard to find good farmland here?!
When the number of people in Greek communities increased, the amount of farmland couldn't produce enough food to feed everyone. Then they had to find a good location for their colony, many times by taking a long voyage. They looked for areas with harbors and good farmland. Finally they built the colony and made it successful.

I finally found the perfect land for settlement. The voyage here was terrible, but now we can start to build our colony.
Many Greeks relied on trading with others for goods. They traded things like Olive oil and pottery for goods ike grain, metal, and timber. Most goods were carried by ships. These ships were made for storage, not speed. With no compasses, they had only the stars to guide them, which was very dangerous.

It's been almost 2 months, this ship goes so slow. I wish this ship went faster. At least I got the grain and timber we needed.
