Declaration of IndependenceTo the dear Continental Congress, the Patriots have been complaining about King George lll imposing strict and unfair laws on us. And they're saying that they deserve independence. This is all true. First, "he is imposing taxes on us without consent." (Source 1) One of these taxes is the "Townshend Act," in which taxes are up for glass, and lead goods. These are making the Patriots Colonists mad. And the "Sugar Act" in which the British are trying to force the colonists and Patriots to buy high-priced British sugar.
The British have also been hurting the Patriots. On March 5, 1770, a large crowd full of Colonists and Patriots led a huge riot, which caused a group of provoked British soldiers to open fire into the crowd. The soldiers killed five people and wounded eight others. (Source 5) This event is what led the Revolution. And the recent British laws on the Colonists Patriots violated their rights as British citizens. One of these was that British soldiers were quartered into citizens' homes. The taxes, the British hurting the Colonists, and the unfair British laws are why Patriots are declaring independence from Britain. You should agree with them let's make sure the Patriots have independence from King George lll and Great Britain. Who's with us?
