  • Today I am going to tech you about all the layers of the atmosphere and what they contain!
  • The TroposphereThis layer is the closest to Earth and holds the clouds we see and the air we breathe. This layer holds the densest air out of all the layers. The troposphere contains 3 quarters of the mass in the entire atmosphere.
  • The StratosphereThis layer holds the famous ozone layer. This layer absorbs UV light from the sun and converts it into energy. This layer contains little water vapor and holds only a few clouds. This layer holds 20% of the mass of the atmosphere.
  • The MesosphereMost meteors vaporize in the mesosphere. Since some parts of meteors float in the mesosphere, this layer has a high concentration of iron and other metal atoms. The mesosphere is 50 - 85 km above Earth.
  • The ThermosphereThe thermosphere holds many different things in its air such as atomic nitrogen, helium, and atomic oxygen. When there is more radiation, the thermosphere expands or puffs up. The boundary between the thermosphere and the exosphere is called thermopause.
  • The ExosphereIt is mainly composed of the low density of hydrogen, helium, and several other heavier molecules. It also includes nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide which are all close to the exobase. The exosphere is 120,000 miles above the Earth's surface.
