- Daniel was just a 14-year-old kid who was going to be entering his 9th-grade year. But his parents had other plans his dad worked on the farm all day with other workers and his mom would go to work in the city. Daniel would be joining his mother 6 days a week to work in the factory. Although Daniel was not looking forward to it, some things like trains and the power loom seemed very interesting to him that he wanted to be able to use. Something that he was very worried about was being crammed in with so many people, because at their farm he had all the space in the world to run around and burn energy.
- With Americas huge growth in population, they needed to expand, so they did westward and on their way expanding they had to kick many native Americans out of their home land
- With the addition of train tracks Daniel and his family now had more variety of not only food to eat, but also food to grow and seeds to plant. They could also ship their resources on their farm to other states helping them make a lot of money
