- One day a mother had to come to America due to a war in China. When she had her child( Jing-Mei) she wanted her daughter to almost be like a perfect Child so that she could live the American dream.
- Climax
- One day when the mother told Jing_mei to read a page of the Bible for three minutes and report what she read, but when Jing-mei read it she only remembered a sentence. when she saw her moms disappionted face she got really upset and that same night she went to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror in dissapointment She then saw a side of her she hasn't seen and she noticed that the child her mom wants her to be is not her.
- Falling Action

- As the tests that Jing-Meis mother gave her started to get harder, Jing-Mei started to go against her mothers ways. Then that's when Jing-Meis mother placed her into piano classes.
- Resolution
- Jing-Mei found the strength in herself and stubbornly said to her mother that she wont be taking piano classes anymore. Then this was when her mother started to realize that her daughter isn't going to be the person she wanted her daughter to be like. Then that's when Jing-Meis mother started to give up her hopes on her daughter being a child prodigy.
- Jing-Meis life was a string of failures and she kept disappointing her mother over and over again.
- Then on Jing-Meis 30th birthday her mother gave Jing-Mei the piano for her 30th birthday. When she opened up the Schumann's book, she saw the two pieces Pleading Child and Perfectly Contented that reflect her life.
