Storyboard Text

  • No longer mourn for me when I am deadThan you shall hear the surly sullen bell
  • Give warning to the world that I am fledFrom this vile world with vilest worms to dwell:
  • APOSTROPHE is the poetic device used in this sonnet. The sonnet is discussing someone speaking of himself but he is not present in the situation he is more so telling someone what to do since he is gone. A good example is when he said "give warning to the world I am fled" meaning that he is no longer here.
  • The turn is on line 11 where the poem turns. Before the turn it is said that the narrator wants someone to remember that they love them, to tell everyone that they are gone  and to not be sad when they are gone, but after the turn it is stated that they don't even want them to speak their name when they left. The narrator states that the love for them should disappear just as they have and that hopefully that person is mocked with their death. It gets a little darker around that part and takes away from the wholesomeness that was there in the beginning.
  • Do not so much as my poor name rehearse;But let your love even with my life decay;
  • Lest the wise world should look into your moan,And mock you with me after I am gone.
