  • Have You Ever Wondered How Bananas get from the plant to the store? Here's a quick story about how they do!
  • Bananas are first harvested when they are still green. Then protected foam is added to prevent spotting. Then the leaves are left on the ground for other plants to absorb the nutrients. Then they are attached to the cableway and brought back to the warehouse by a donkey.
  • And then when they are in the warehouse the protective foam is taken off and sent back to the field. Then for quality control, each bunch is numbered and sent to be washed and thoroughly inspected. then banana hands are placed in water to remove latex. And then the banana stems are recycled. Then the bananas receive another quality inspection and are cut into clusters.
  • Then the Bananas are removed from the water and put on trays with programmed scales per shipping caparments. Then the trays are transferred on a conveyor belt where they receive the worldwide Dole sticker. Then the stems receive a post-harvest treatment to preserve freshness. Then the bananas are ready to be packed into boxes specifically for long-distance travel, which are assembled right on site. Then the banana clusters are packed in a certain way to protect them from damage. Then there is a last weight check to ensure that each box has the desired amount. Then the boxes are all packed on palets for quality control and trackability. Then they are placed in shipping containers and take them to a port.
