Bacon died on October26, 1676. John Ingram took over of the rebellion, but due to the new leadership many people lift the rebellion. Berkeley closed in on them and attacked and defended the rebels. In order for the rebels to lose Thomas decided to lie to them and tell them that they would be pardon if they got on his boat. When the rebels got on they got disarmed.

When Governor Berkeley got his power back, he decided to take away all the properties of all the people who participated in the rebellion and also ended up hanging 23 men. Due to the rebellion they decided it would be for the best to start purchasing slaves instead of having indentured servants.
