After civil war broke out in Rome, Frances went through many struggles of losing two of her children to a plague, one from getting taken as hostage, and her house being destroyed. After war was over, her husband could not really do anything because of his battle scars and released her from marital duties.
Frances gathered the many young women who were inspired by her family commitment and charity and created a community called the Oblates of Mary with Dom Antonio’s permission. Even after establishing the monastery, Frances remained devoted to Lorenzo, choosing to stay home and take care of him.
