This is a storyboard of the book Bearstone by Will Hobbs.

Storyboard Text

  • Cloyd arrives at Walter's ranch in Colorado. Cloyd is a Native American Teenager from Utah. He has no real family or real home. 
  • Cloyd is angry about staying at Walter's ranch and runs away. He finds a special Bearstone up in the mountains. He remembers stories his grandmother would tell him about how important bears are. 
  • Cloyd returns to Walter's ranch. He rides the horse, Blueboy. He decides to help Walter, and builds a long fence for his ranch. Walter tells him about when he used to be a gold miner!
  • Cloyd becomes very helpful at the ranch, and Walter begins to feel like Cloyd is family. Cloyd tells Walter a big secret - he does not know how to read.
  • Rusty and the other bear-hunters arrive at the ranch. Cloyd gets angry and runs away again. He gets in a very dangerous situation with Blueboy.
  • A grizzly bear dies because of Rusty. Cloyd saves Walter's life. Cloyd and Walter decide they can be each other's new family on the ranch in Colorado.
