I know right! That fortress was used by French kings to imprison subjects that didn't agree with them politically, making the Bastille a representation of the oppressive nature of the monarchy!
Did you hear about the Woman's March on Versailles? Concerned over the high price and scarcity of bread, women from the marketplaces in Paris led the march on October 5, 1789!
I heard about that too! It gave revolutionaries confidence in the power of the people over the king!
Ultimately unwilling to cede his royal power to the Revolutionary government, Louis XVI was found guilty of treason and condemned to death. He was guillotined just yesterday on January 21, 1793!
