- Welcome to the Haitian Revolution! It's the 1780s and this is our old system of government! Right now, our government has 4 groups of people; white french citizens, free people from african descent, slaves, and finally Maroons. The white citizens are mainly rich, and control all of the land that the slaves, who were the least respected group of people at the time. The free people of african descent were mixed race, and could earn money and they held important positions in the colony. Maroons were escaped slaves that eventually revolted and started the whole revolution along with the slaves.
- We're now in the new system of government! The year is 1804 and we have just defeated Napoleon's forces who were trying to stop the revolution from being a success! We have succeeded in becoming an independent country and we have also changed our country's name to Haiti instead of our old name when we were a french colony which was Saint Domingue! There is no more slavery because in the 1790s France declared the end of slavery in Saint Domingue! The people here are happy once again, and our country is in peace at last.
