- Mitch made a bunch of noise to distract the recruits, while I roughly rattled my way up to the roof as rapidly as I could. Mitch was frantically yelling as he was dragged down, down, down. At the bottom, a loud crack was made, and Mitch started screaming at the top of his lungs.
- I stayed put on the roof, crying from the pain of the prick up there, until I heard an engine start and a car go off. I was alone as a wolf with no pack to go back to.
- CRACK!

- Should I give up and turn myself in? But then, what Mitch did for me would have all been for nothing. Additionally, I would never be able to see my family again if I was captured. So, I picked up all that I had, including the courage I salvaged at this moment, and set out north towards safety. My family was going to leave for the north before my dad had his last "council meeting," but he had to go.

- I've been walking north for days on end now, and found myself deep in a forest with a fist pounding at my stomach, and sickness seeping in. “I'm going to die,” I told myself, because at this rate it was inevitable. I closed my eyes and laid myself down, it felt like I was dreaming. The next time I woke up, it was reluctantly. At this moment, I wanted to die.
- The next time I woke up, I was surprised I was even still alive. Additionally, I was hearing voice, many voices.
