- Thomas Becket was born in 1119and became very close friends with Henry II who was born in 1113.

- In 1162, Henry made his friend Thomas Becket the Archbishop of Canterbury, placing him in charge of religion in England. Henry expected him to follow all his rules.
- Thomas refused and moved to France. This is were the feud began.
- Thomas Becket eventually returned to Britain in 1170 after staying in France for six years and two men agreed to try and work together.
- When Henry found out that Thomas had excommunicated all of the bishops who had helped Henry run church business while he was away. HE WAS FURIOUS! He shouted ' Is there no one who will get rid me of this troublesome priest?' Four knights while standing nearby overheard while the king ranted and raved. They decided to get rid their king of this priest and set off to Canterbury without delay.
- The afternoon of 29 December 1170 was a dark and stormy one. Four knights, in full armour had arrived outside Canterbury Cathedral. They they struck him with a sword and he was dead...
