Why didn't I realize that when he told me to think of myself, he was also giving that advice to himself?
Beatrice...We should think of our family...But. But we must also think of ourselves.
Non-stop Train
One...Two...Three
I just...can't do it unless someone drags me.
The Fight
Uh...Tris.
The jumper is...Tris!
What's your name?
Beatrice Prior and her brother, Caleb, are both sixteen which means they get to choose which faction they want to be in. They get put into a simulation with different scenarios which help them choose which faction. Beatrice was picked for 3 out of the 5 factions which is unheard of since she was suppose to be picked for only one. The 3 were, Abnegation (acts of selflessness), which she and her brother are from, Dauntless (acts of recklessness and fighting), and Erudite (acts of intelligents). She is now called "Divergent".
Your Fears
To choose their faction, they have to go through the choosing ceremony. They take a knife and cut they had to have the blood drip into bowls that represent the faction that they choose. Caleb chose Erudite and Beatrice chose Dauntless. To get to the Dauntless headquarters, where the training begins, she had to board a train, but the train doesn't stop. She runs and hops on until she gets to a platform on top of a building. She jumps out of the train and has to land on. That is the first task she has to complete in the training.
Tracker?
You...I expected. All the trouble with your aptitude test results made me suspicious. But you... You, Tobias-or should i say Four? -Managed to elude me.
Once she completes the first task, the second task in the jump off the building into a net at the bottom. Beatrice was the first jumper, which is rare for a abnegation transfer. Once she was at the bottom, she met her instructor, Four, for the transfers. She changed her name to Tris once she had the chance. The group was sent off in a room of bunks to get some rest before the important training starts. They have to fight other people in their group to get a spot on the leaderboard. The more fights that are won, the higher the person is one the board.
They're Gone
You nearly died today...I almost shot you. Why didn't you shoot me, Tris?
To also get higher on the board, she does a fear simulation. She gets a serum stab into her neck and it simulates on of her fears. Since she's divergent, she is aware in the simulations, so she does things that aren't supposed to be possible. Four is there to monitor her and gets to watch her fears. Once she's awake from the simulation, Four asks her house she did the impossible. Tris doesn't even know how she did. She got out of the simulation in five minutes, which is also unheard of. Four found out what she is and to protect her, he basically deletes the simulation data.
Do what?
I don't know.
How did you do that?
Crack the glass.
After the training is done, the top ten on the board gets to stay in the faction, the others become factionless. The head of the faction, Max, says that they need to put a tracker in your neck for safety. It turns out it was some serum that they put in them to basically control their minds, so they can fight and kill abnegation. Tris and Four weren't affected by the serum, so they were aware of what was going. They end up being captured, but Tris escapes, but Four was moved to somewhere else. Tris goes finds him, but along the way, she finds her family.
Why bother?
Now that your intelligence has been verified, you might want to get on with killing us.
Something happens to her mom, so her brother and dad helps Tris go find Four. He ends up being in the security room at the Dauntless headquarters. Four isn't himself, so Tris aids him. Something happens to Tris' dad, so she and Caleb run away with Four to the trains. They jump on the train and ride the train to somewhere.
I couldn't do that...It would of have been like shooting myself.
