- In the first chapter of the book, we are introduced to Eddie on his 83rd birthday. We later learn that Eddie is a maintenance man at Ruby Pier. One fateful evening one of the rides at Ruby Pier had a malfunction, one of the carts fell, in a desperate attempt to save the little girl's life Eddie pushes her out of the way taking the blow for himself leading him to die.

- The 5 People You Meet Heaven is about the life of a man named Eddie. All his life he worked as a maintenance man at Ruby Pier, until one fateful day where a cart falls on him eventually leading him to his death. Eddie then is sent to a stage in heaven where he reflects on his life, he meets 5 people that had an important impact on his life. The only way he can move onto heaven is if he understands what happened in his life.
- Plot
- The 5 People You Meet In Heaven may be a fictional story about a man who is on his way to heaven but it contains a lot of relevance to the real world. This book highlights important moments in Eddie's life. Eddie most enjoyable life moments was when he was a teenager, he met his wife, he still had an aspiration to leave the Pier, and he didn't have any pain from the war. This is important for teenagers because a lot of them are worried about problems like school, but they have to remember to enjoy life because those are the best years of their life.
- Relevance
- Reconciliation, among the many themes in this book I believe this is the most important theme. Eddie went throw a lot of pain in his life and the leading cause for this pain was his father. In order for Eddie to move on to the next stage in heaven, he had to forgive his father Eddie learned that hate is a double-edged blade and he needs to learn that the only way to make the pain go away is to forgive his father.

- The main characters in the 5 people you meet in heaven are Eddie, the Blue Man, the Captain, Marguerite, Ruby, Tala. All these five people helped shave Eddie to become the person he was today. The protagonist in the 5 people is Eddie. The antagonist is internal inside Eddie, he struggles to fight the hate he feels towards his father.
- Characters
- The 5 People You Meet In Heaven is a great book and contains strong messages. When Mitch Album was writing this book he didn't use any swear words and he didn't have any gory details in the book. However, the book was well writing and had a lot of deeper meaning, leading me to the reason that he most likely had a target audience of 12year olds and older. The book doesn't swear making it ok for a younger audience but is also impactful and it might be hard for a younger audience to understand it.
