Storyboard Text

  • British Troops on their way to Quebec City
  • They Arrived Near the South-West of Quebec
  • Settled on an Abandoned Farmers Land or also known as "The Plains of Abraham"
  • General James Wolfe sailed from England in 1759 with orders to conquer all of Nouvelle-France.
  • They sailed through the St. Lawrence River on Thursday September 13, 1759 with 5,000 troops.
  • French Troops Mobilize
  • General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm is the tactical commander against the British.
  • Soldiers were met with a steep and narrow rock. They climbed this rock to surprise and draw out French troops from Quebec City.
  • British Forces and French Forces Meet
  • General Wolfe has only seen this land through his spyglass. Since the top of the hill was within canon range of Quebec they stationed on the bottom of the hill.
  • The End of the War on The Plains of Abraham
  • General Montcalm took General Wolfe's bait. He took 5,000 troops towards the Plains of Abraham and leaves the rest of force to guard the Beauport Trenches.
  • General Montcalm's orders a general advance down the steep hill, they halt to shoot they were still far out of range. This important decision ultimately determined the result of the battle. Once they were near enough to see the faces of the British troops they shoot. While the French reloaded General Wolfe commanded to shoot which caused a devastating burst of concentrated fire.
  • By the next morning the British got the upper hand, so the French started fleeting. Both the Generals died that day. The Seven Years War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. This officially declared that Nouvelle-France is now in the hands of the British. The battles are bloody and violent because of the emergence of gunpowder that is now used to make new weapons.
