Storyboard Text

  • "I dreamt last night of the three weird sisters.To you they have showed some truth" (2.1.21-22).
  • "I think not of them" (2.1.22).
  • "Is this a dagger which I see before me,The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee" (2.1.34-35).
  • "I have done the deed. Didst thou not hear a noise?" (2.2.15).
  • "Why did you bring these daggers from the place?" (2.2.47).
  • 2.1: Banquo tells Macbeth that he had a dream about the three witches, and Macbeth lies to him and says that he has not thought about them.
  • "Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this bloodClean from my hand? No, this my hand will ratherThe multitudinous seas incarnadine,Making the green one red" (2.2.59-62).
  • 2.1: Macbeth thinks he sees a dagger floating in front of him, and it is pointing toward Duncan's room. He is unable to take it, and he wonders if it is real.
  • "O, yet I do repent me of my fury,That I did kill them" (2.3.103-104).
  • 2.2: Macbeth tells Lady Macbeth that he killed Duncan, but she gets mad when she realizes that he forgot to leave the daggers with the guards, so she goes to put them back.
  • "He is already named, and gone to SconeTo be invested" (2.4.31-32).
  • 2.2: While Lady Macbeth returns the daggers to Duncan's room, Macbeth washes the blood off his hands, and he reveals that he feels very guilty.
  • 2.3: Macduff finds out that Duncan is dead, and he runs to tell everyone else. Macbeth reveals that he murdered the guards because he was mad that they had killed the king, and Lady Macbeth faints as Macbeth explains what happened.
  • 2.4: Macduff tells Ross that Macbeth is now the king. It is revealed that Duncan's sons fled, so Macduff and Ross suspect that they told the guards to kill their father.
