I have a history exam and I know nothing! I need to know what the problem was with labor issues, prohibition and women's rights! I dropped my textbook in the sewer grate and now I don't know what to do!

I'm glad you're calm now Helga! Thankfully I'm a history major so I know a lot! With labor issues, the main problems were dangerous working conditions and a lack of workers' rights specifically for fair wages, reasonable working hours and safety regulations. As for women's rights the problems with the movement consisted of legal inequality considering women had limited legal rights, social expectations, workplace discrimination and little to no political representation in the government, which made it difficult to advocate for legal changes supporting equal rights! Lastly, the problems with prohibition were the economic impact, the rise of organized crime due to the black market for alcohol, and the resistance of the public as prohibition was extremely unpopular!

To add to that, there were several ways in which these problems were solved! With labor issues, laws were enacted to improve workplace safety with one of the key figures of this improvement being Mary Harris Jones or Mother Jones who was a prominent labor activist who fought for workers rights! With Women's rights women responded to the inequity with a decades long fight to secure women's right to vote called the women's suffrage movement. This movement is often credited to Elizabeth Cady Stanton who helped launch the movement and co-founded the women's suffrage movement. Lastly, for prohibition in response to it's unpopularity as well as a variety of other factors, the government passed the 21st amendment in 1933 ending prohibition, this was supported by the president at the time Franklin D. Roosevelt. Thankfully, it didn't end there as alcohol regulations were put in place to control alcohol sales, protect people with age restrictions and licensing laws, all of which were supported by reform groups such as the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment. I know that was a lot, but I hope it helped Helga! Now let's go fish your book out of the sewer.
Thank you!
