- There's not enough water distributed well in the Sahel area.The Sahel region in Africa is facing an increasing challenge of a shortage in water. The reason for this is not only climate change, but also due to population and economic growth and poor water management. Also, agriculture in the area has an increasing demand for water.As the population in the Sahel region continues to grow, there is more demand for food and there is more pressure on the agriculture sector. Also, the unsustainable farming practices increases water scarcity and increases the demand for additional farmland.
