- A form of terrorism committed by a singular person is called lone wolf terrorism.
- Identifying lone wolf terrorists if much harder than identifying terrorist groups. Lone wolf terrorists are usually secretive about their intentions and disappear quickly after taking action. Today we see lone wolf terrorists who set themselves on fire to protest causes they believe in.

- Homegrown terrorism is natural citizens committing violent crimes in Western countries because they reject their values, beliefs, etc.
- The "blend factor" is used by radical recruiters to recruit Western extremists through social media. "Blend factor" means there is no specific location or dress code for the terrorist group so that it makes it hard for law enforcement to find them.
