I've been doing some job-hunting, but it hasn't been going well. I've been rejected left and right, and after smoking with you the other day, I just keep buying more cigarettes because I want to forget about my troubles.
Hey, so how have you been feeling lately, Brittany? I see that you've been smoking more often. What's wrong?
Thank you so much! I've been so stressed out lately because I feel like I'm not good enough. I feel like all my efforts are going down the drain. I'm not usually the type to succumb to reckless behaviors like smoking, but I just needed to get my mind off it. I've been so worried, and anxious that all those years of hard work were for nothing.
I see. I'm sorry that you're having trouble finding a job. But I think it'll get dangerous if you keep relying on cigarettes for stress relief because then you'll become addicted. Then later down the line, you'll be more susceptible to getting stroke, lung cancer, heart disease, and more. As your friend, I want you to talk to me anytime you're stressed out instead of continuing to smoke.
It's okay, Jessica. I know you didn't mean any harm, I just abused it. I'll quit smoking after this too, and I'll try to face my problems head-on instead of looking for distractions. You're a good friend. Thank you, Jessica, for looking out for me.
Thank you for confiding in me, Brittany. I'm sorry I didn't notice earlier. I was also careless towards you when I influenced your decision to start smoking. Starting today, I'll quit smoking altogether! And I'll always reach out to see if you're okay.
