- Thesis: Shinnecock culture is influenced by fashion because it can connect us together.
- Today, some Shinnecock people still have a traditional headband or moccasins, but they wear modern clothes like jeans instead of breechcloths... and they only wear feathers in their hair on special occasions like a dance.
- Thesis: Shinnnecock culture has been influenced by customs because of food and the natural resources that Shinnecock use.
- This means Native American consider wampum to be sacred. Using wampum belts or jewelry assures friendship. Wampum were used in many different ways and there were also one way to get an alliance with other tribes and maintain a good relationship.
- Shinnecock often wove thousands of shell beads into wampum belts. These beads were made from quahog and whelk shells. Many northeastern Native Americans consider wampum sacred. They exchanged the belts as pledges to keep treaties and to assure friendships.
- The Council of Trustees are people who have responsibility and duties which are to attend meetings and speak for the Shinnecock nation. To represent the Nation to Federal, State, and local government

- To represent The Nation and to negotiate with Federal, State and local government. To advise representatives of the Federal and State governments on appropriations, projects, and legislation that affect The Nation.
