Homework should be banned from schools because students have to do other things when they get home, it can be very stressful, and it's just a review on what the students already learned at school.
I understand what you're saying, but I think homework shouldn't be banned because it helps the students understand the material better.
Well, if the students were listening in class, they should already have a good understanding of the material so they shouldn't need homework unless they make a special request for it.
You make a good point, but some kids don't listen in class and a way for their teacher to figure that out is by seeing how well a student does on their homework meaning the teachers need the homework too, not just the students.
Okay, but when students get home, they shouldn't have to worry about stuff they did at school. They should be able to spend their time however they want to.
That's true, but homework shouldn't take 3-4 hours. Students should still be able to do other things even with homework.
Well, even if the homework doesn't take that long, some students have other things that they need to attend. For example, sports practices. They might not have time to fit in homework on their schedule.
I understand, but teaching students how to manage their time is a good life skill and homework can help with that.
That's true, I think we both make good points. What if we just agreed that schools should keep homework, but give less of it?
That sounds good to me!
