Storyboard Text

  • If I’m not mistaken sir. Is that the Primary, Secondary and Auxiliary
  • Good morning class, our lesson for today is 3 Distinct or unique Type of Message. Is there anyone here who is familiar in our topic?
  • Exactly, But before we start, I just want you all to recall what messages you delivered in your past conversations. If it is intentional or unintentional way and how you express, it. Did you think you delivered your message well? Or does your receiver understands the way you want them too? Because we all know that not all people can really understand what we really want to say, and it brings Confusion to one another.
  • The Primary message is most likely done with a purpose, it may be short but the message is straightforward, however, this message might face some misunderstanding since not all the people might understand the message you want to convey. For example, " give me a book " to a friend, this is your message, short, direct and simple. Now class, Do you think this message will cause a misunderstanding?
  • This message seems like you’re ordering your friend to give you a book and sounds too bossy, and I think that will cause a misunderstanding.
  • That's a good point. The second type is the Secondary Message. This refers on how you look, how you portray yourself, your move, and all the gestures you aren't aware of. It gives impression on people when you are communicating on them. Ex. When your friends are on sleepover. They will easily make impression of who you are by the look Of your home , right? Family photos on walls, desks. They automatically feel how close and bonded you guys are. You haven't control over their impressions. That's how Secondary Messages work.
  • So Sir, basically the Secondary Message is unintentional right?
  • Yes, you’re right. Now, let’s proceed to the last one which is the Auxiliary Message. It refers to the intentional and unintentional ways we choose to communicate the primary message. Like, our posture, gestures, speed while passing our message can influence how the receiver interprets it. For example, “You look good today” did you say it with a hint of sarcasm? Did you look away while you say it.
  • No problem, It’s my job after all. That ends our discussion, thank you for attending my class.
  • Now that I know what are the 3 Distinct Type of Message, I will surely apply this knowledge when I communicate with others.
  • Thank you for discussing this topic with us Sir.
