Many Americans like me decided to make the journey to the american west in the search of farmland. Many people built homes similar to this one here.
Us farmers were able to harvest more crops due to the increase in farming technology. The problem was that with more of the product the value of the product goes down.
Often times people like me who owned banks would give these farmers mortgages. Due to us living in NY and them living out west it took some time for their payments to make it and they would lose their farms.
Eventually us farmers had enough. An organization called "the grange" was formed as a way to address the issues we faced.
Founded by Oliver Hudson Kelley shortly after the Civil War The Grange was the voice for farmers except that many of them excluded other farmers for their skin color.
The grange left a legacy for future generations to look back on. They helped farmers get the benefits they have today. Important members where Harold J. Arthur, Robert Bergland, David Lublin, Etc.
