- WW1 was caused because of 4 M.A.I.N. causes. One of these causes was Militarism, which is an increase in military arms, recruitment, and spending. Then, the nations have a system of alliances formed for support during the war.
- DIE!!
- Another cause is imperialism, which is the competition for resources in other lands such as Africa and Asia.

- Lastly, Nationalism, which is the external love and devotion to one's nation.
- The biggest event that led to WW1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was assassinated by Serbian nationalists who was upset at Austria-Hungary's annexation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
- There were two major alliances formed; the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. The Triple Alliance contained Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. The Triple Entente contained Russia, France, and Great Britain.
- On April 2, 1917, the United States joined WW1 when they declared war on Germany. They did this because of the Zimmerman Telegram and because of German U-Boats sinking civilian ships containing US citizens.
