..that I won't take away your slaves if you come back.
Advantages of the North
A major cause of the Civil War was that Abraham Lincoln won the Presidential Election even though none of the South voted for him. This made the South mad because they felt like it was rigged against them. They eventually left the Union because of this and many other reasons.
Advantages of the South
Although he was known as the Anti-Slavery President Lincoln didn't actually want to take away the South's slaves, he just wanted to stop the expansion of slavery to the West and keep the Union together.
Major Battles
The North had many advantages like a really expansive railroad and telegraph system. They also had a lot of factories and people to make stuff for the army and to serve in the army.
End of War and Outcomes
We surrender
The South had less but still effective advantages like their soldiers being used to guns and horses because of lots of time hunting. They also had better war leaders which helped them win a lot of battles like General Robert E. Lee.
A big battle of the Civil War is the Battle of Gettysburg which was called the turning point of the war because it was the first major battle that the North won. It also was the first and only battle where the South attacked the North instead of vice versa.
After the Sherman's March to the Sea another major battle of the war the South undersupplied and under inflation the South surrendered to the North. They rejoined the Union, and because of the Emancipation Proclamation all of their slaves were freed.
