- Oh me? I'm just making myself some food.
- Woah what are you doing there ?
- But how, you don't have hands though, do you?
- Don't worry, it's pretty simple actually.
- Of course I am the expert here. Also it's called Photosynthesis, not making myself some food.
- Plants are a type of autotroph which means that they are able to produce their own food and energy. The first step occurs the Carbon Dioxide passes through an opening in the leaf called the Stomata
- While both Carbon and Water are going to leaves. A organelle called chloroplast contains chlorophyll which is a key component in creating glucose.
- During the Carbon Dioxide entering, the roots of the plants soak up water from the ground, which are carried through the xylem from the roots, to the stems and leaves.
- Those are the first steps of photosynthesis i'm guessing.
- Then they build glucose, a sugar which acts like a food source. The chemical formula for glucose is:C6H12O6, which is 6 carbon atoms, 12 hydrogen atoms, and 6 oxygen atoms.
- Carbon and water are reactants which get absorbed, the plant then breaks down the Carbon and the Water molecules.
- How is glucose made?
- Stroma is the fluid filling up the inner space of the chloroplasts which encircle the grana and the thylakoid
- Yes, you must know about Thylakoids, they are another key component that allows the plant to photosynthesis, its located in the internal membranes of chloroplasts and cyanobacteria, and provide the platform for the light reactions of photosynthesis.
- Is there anything else I need to know?
- The products of photosynthesis is to create glucose and oxygen. In a way we cant live without humans and humans cannot live without us, humans produce the carbon dioxide that we need to photosynthesize. In return we give you guys oxygen which helps you do all sort of things
- All of this together is known as the calvin cycle
