Later after I left the school and I made the essay I wrote public, many peers from younger grades started reaching out to me and expressing that they were also receiving racist comments or severely getting bullied, and nothing was being done by administration to prevent it. Many of them left the school as well. Racism is real. It's a timeless issue in history that desperately needs and expiration date. My experience in high school had a huge effect on my mental health and makes me super sensitive to racism topics and gives me a lot of passion to speak my mind. Although standing up for myself back then didn't do much, I won't be deterred from standing up for myself now or in the future. And if my essay helped people feel a little less alone and also help them feel empowered to stand up for themselves then that makes everything I went through worth it.

The Dean of discipline (the one who told me she took care of it) sat me down and was trying to understand the situation and the context of the issue. As I proceed to explain to her that the n word is a derogatory term that makes me feel uncomfortable, degraded, isolated from my peers and shouldn't be used at all especially not by a person who is not of color, she says the hard er right in front of my face.
So, he said nig*er?

We can't say that this month!!!
I was sitting in class doing my work when I hear a group of boys behind me shout out the N word again to one of his friends. One of the boys decides to crack a very disrespectful joke. Everyone started laughing and looking at me to try to get a reaction out of me. I just kept quiet and continued doing my work.
