Storyboard Text
- Walter rushes for the bathroom
- "Daddy, come on!"
- Walter gives Travis money
- "What you tell the boy things like that for? Here, son"
- Walter patronizes Ruth
- "But you wouldn't do nothing to help, would you? You couldn't be on my side that long for nothing, could you?"
- Travis opens the door entering the room and tells Walter that the bathroom is open. Walter rushes to the bathroom because lots of people live in the small apartment so everyone's always rushing for the bathroom when its free.
- Argument between Beneatha and Walter
- "If you so crazy 'bought messing 'round with sick people then go be a nurse like other women or just go get married and be quiet"
- Travis wants to go get groceries but Ruth tells him no and that they don't have the money. Walter asks what is happening and Travis tells him about wanting to go get groceries but Ruth wont give him the money. Walter gives him a coin.
- Beneatha gets slapped
- "Now you say after me, in my mother's house there is still God"
- Walter is yelling at Ruth because he feels like she doesn't back him up. Walter says a man needs a woman to back him up.
- Ruth falls
- "Why ain't you singing this morning, Ruth?"
- Walter and Beneatha are arguing and Walter remarks how Beneatha wants to be a doctor and how she shouldn't but Beneatha thinks she has to be a doctor and wants to be something.
- Beneatha tells Mama that she believes god is an idea that she doesn't accept. Mama gets angry and frustrated with Beneatha slaps her across the face. Mama makes Beneatha repeat that God is still present in the house.
- Ruth and Mama are speaking about gardens and growing plants. Ruth tells Mama about a plant outside then Mama asks Ruth why she isn't singing like usual. Mama looks back at Ruth to see she has fallen down semi conscious.
