  • Ponyboy Curtis, at the movie theater, during the day.
  • CLIMAX
  • Darry and Ponyboy have conflict between each other. An example is when Darry yells at Pony because Pony came home late. Darry is just trying to protect Pony so he doesn't lose another person he cares about. Pony thinks because Darry yells at him he thinks Darry doesn't care about him. Soda feels sad and upset when Darry and Pony fight.
  • FALLING ACTION
  • I had the knife I killed Bob
  • I was there you were nearly drowned. It was your black haired friend.
  • Examples of Rising action in the book: 1.) Darry slapped Ponyboy 2.) Johnny killed Bob, a Soc. Cherry was sad 3.)Pony and Johnny ran away to Windrixville 4.)The church caught on fire and Pony and Johnny saved the kids. 5.) The rumble between the Greasers and the Socs.
  • RESOLUTION
  • The climax of the story was when Johnny dies from the fire trying to save the kids. Also, when Dally was shot by the police because they thought he had a loaded gun and was a menace who robbed a grocery store.
  • Pony was confused and told Randy that he killed Bob. Pony is struggling to get over Johnny's death. Whenever Pony got better he tried to act tough to the Socs but stays true to himself by picking up a bottle he broke because he doesn't want to become someone who doesn't care about anything or anyone.
  • After reading Johnny's letter, Pony wrote his story for an assignment to get a passing grade. That story taught other kids like him to learn from his mistakes, to not end up like him and be happy so they do not end up like Dally.
