Falling Over Sideways
Storyboard Text
- In this scene, Claire is eating breakfast while she and her dad are sitting at the table. Her mom and her brother Matthew weren't home. Then all of a sudden her dad lurks the table forward right into her and he starts saying weird things such as, "Muffin bat! Pumpkin over!" His whole right half of him was droopy. Claire had no idea what to do so she called 9-1-1. The medical people came with an ambulance and it turned out that Claire's dad was having a stroke.
- "Ok it's ok. I am dialing 9-1-1. Hi. It's my dad! He can't- he's not making any sense. And is face isn't-"
- "Muffin bat! Pumpkin over!"
- In this scene the Goldsmith family was allowed to go into the room for a little bit to see how their father was doing. While they were in there Claire's mother was encouraging her to say something but nothing could come out of Claire's mouth no matter how hard she tried. Matthew was burying his face in his father's lap and was very upset. He then said "Daddy". Claire then thought this crazy thought: Nobody's the right age today.
- "Daddy"
- "It's alright Claire Bear. Just say anything. Your father loves you. He'll just love the sound of your voice."
- Why can't I say anything? I want to say something but I can't. Poor dad, he looks so helpless.
- What is he doing? this is what love is. Daddy was strong for me so that I could learn to be. Then I was strong for him until he could relearn his own strength. Now, here we are, strong together.
- In this scene, Claire was at the father-daughter dance but was dancing with Matthew because her father was still weak and couldn't dance. Turns out, in the end, Matthew and a few other people planned a surprise. The surprise was that her father used his cane and came out and used his foot exercise as a tap dance. In the end, Claire got to dance with her father at her first father-daughter dance.
