  • Put your mind at rest I wouldn't sell my child for all of fairyland. His mother was a dedicated follower of mine, and in the scented evening air of India she often gossiped by my side and sat with me on beaches, watching departed cargo ships out at sea. We laughed to see the sails billow and swell in the playful wind.
  • Put it right, then. It's up to you. Why should Titania go against her Oberon's wishes? I'm only asking for a little changeling boy, to be my page.
  • And being pregnant herself with my young attendant, she'd copy them on land, gliding along in a charming manner as if through water to fetch me this and that. Back she'd come as a ship from a voyage, loaded with merchandise. But being a mere mortal, she died in childbirth, and for her sake I'm bringing up her boy. And for her sake, I won't part with him.

  • Through the forest I have been: But no Athenian have I seen on whose eyes to try the power of this love-begetting flower. Night and silence. Who is there? Athens clothes is his wear. This is he who my master told me treated the Athenian maiden coldly! And here's the maiden, sleeping sound on the damp and dirty ground. Near this sad sack; loveless wretch! Peasant! On your eyes I place all the power these charms embrace.

  • Who's this? Lysander, on the ground? Is he dead or sleeping? I can't see blood or a wound. Lysander-if you're alive, good sir, wake up!
  • And I'd run through fire for your sweet sake! Helena the crystal-clear! Nature is clever: I can see the loving heart that lies within your bosom! Where is Demetrius? That vile name is fit only to die on my sword!
  • Don't say that Lysander! Don't say that! What if he does love your Hermia? What does it matter, in heaven's name? Hermia still loves you. Be content with that.
