- Titania and Oberon get into a quarrel over who should get the Indian boy. Titania adopted the boy after the boy's mother, who was one of her votresses, passed away, and she feels it is her responsibility to raise him. Oberon wants the boy to be one of his henchmen during his travels.
- I found the Athenian man
- Oberon devises a plan to acquire the Indian boy. He orders Robin to fetch him a magical flower that was struck by Cupid's arrow. The nectar of the flower will make anyone fall in love with the first thing they see. Oberon will make Titania fall in love with a hideous beast, and he will only give her the antidote if she gives him the Indian boy.
- You will awake when a hideous beast appears
- Oberon notices Demetrius scorning Helena, and he decides he will tell Robin to put some of the nectar in Demetrius' eyes as well.
- ♪The finch, the sparrow, and the lark,The plainsong cuckoo gray,Whose note full many a man doth mark,and dares not answer "nay"♪
- I love you!
- Robin departs to put the nectar in Demetrius' eyes. However, since Oberon said that he will recognize Demetrius by his Athenian clothing, he thinks Lysander is Demetrius. He puts the nectar in Lysander's eyes and he falls in love with Helena, and leaves Hermia behind.
- Oberon applies the nectar to the sleeping Titania's eyelids. When she awakes she will fall in love with the first thing she sees.
- Robin stumbles upon the Mechanicals practicing their play, and he decides to turn Nick Bottom's head into that of a donkey's. Nick Bottom not noticing what happened to his head starts singing, which awakes Titania. Titania sees Bottom and immediately falls in love with him.
