Storyboard Text

  • The collapse of the Soviet Union also led to the collapse of the Berlin Wall. This decision of loosening their grip on the Countries of Eastern Europe ultimately meant their independence. This all happened recently in the year of 1989. In the year of 1991, the Soviet Unions control completely dissolved.
  • The Space race was a race ran by the two Super Powers; the Us and SU. This race was effectively won by the United Sates in 1969, although the Soviets were the first in space, the US landed on the moon first. This race had shined a light on the importance of flight. For both sides this strengthened them as a whole.
  • The Bay of Pigs invasion was a failed invasion led by Cuban Exiles. They were automatically set under heavy fire and defeated. This attack was financed by the United States Government to take over Cuba. This attack occurred in 1961 on the coasts of Cuba.
  • The Berlin Wall was physically set there to divide Berlin from the rest of East Germany. This lasted from 1961 up until 1989. This wall prevented the people who inhabited Berlin from escaping from the Soviet controlled areas. This wall serves as a ugly reminder of the Cold War.
  • The Cuban missile Crisis, was a crisis that provoked fear of a false threat. This took course in October of 1962 and lasted for 35 days. This scare all started in regards of the two Super Powers; the United States and The Soviet Union, battling it out. It was when our world was closest to a nuclear war, at least at the time.
  • The Red Scare was an event that promoted paranoia in the minds of Americans, creating a theory that there’s a uprising of communism and betrayal. This led to American civilizations not trusting their government and the people around them. Many people were victims of their fear. Often times leading people to be falsely accused, ending in execution or deportation.
