  • Jackson Becomes President
  • I won presidency by a landslide! A big thank you to the common men for supporting me!!
  • So glad I switched to your side, President Jackson
  • Jackson's Changes to Politics
  • Yea! We love that idea, we will no longer have to own land to vote!
  • I will make politics more democratic. There will be a more democratic process for nominating political candidates & more people can vote!
  • The Spoil System
  • Thank you for coming here today, my loyal supporters. I have decided that I will replace many of my federal workers with you people--my supporters!
  • In the election of 1824, Andrew Jackson wins president. At this time Jackson's supporters were the common man and the democratic party.
  • Nominating Conventions
  • President Jackson makes some changes in government and the politics, such as a change in the right to vote or what it took to be able to vote.
  • The Tariff Debate
  • We as southerner don't want this stupid tariff! It's completely bias towards the southerners!
  • President Jackson fired many federal workers and filled their place with his supporters, a thing known as the spoils system.
  • Tariff of Abominations
  • Jackson replaced caucuses, which were when political candidates were chosen by committees made up of members of Congress, with a new system of nominating conventions in which delegates from the states selected the party’s presidential candidate.
  • The state of Idaho chooses him to represent our party!
  • Americans began to disagree about a tariff placed in 1828, it helped the North, but the Southern people were completely not okay with it. This eventually led to different reforms and compromises about the tariff.
  • It is not! Besides, it makes our manufactured goods less expensive than imported goods!!
  • As the debates about the Tariff became more heated, Jackson supported a compromise toward the tariff, and his attempt was nullified. And eventually Jackson threatened to send Military troops by an act called the force act, which was also then nullified. The way in which this affected the U.S., was Jackson's presidency definitely caused heated arguments but a boost in equality and national confidence.
  • The southern people have completely disobeyed me! If they want to nullify all my attempts, so be it!
