- Mathilde Loisel a middle class woman who always dreamed of being rich. Married to Monsieur Loisel. she knows being rich is way out of her reach but she still dreams of it everyday. One day, her husband comes homes with tickets hoping his wife would be excited, but only one thing is on her mind, what she would wear.

- Mathilde Loisel asked her best friend Madamme Forestier, if shecould borrow a necklace from her and she says yes. Mathilde is finally happy that she can look good at the party.
- Sure! anything for you, come to my house and you can pick one out
- I am invited to a party but I dont have anything to wear.Can I borrow a necklace if you don't mind
- Everyone loved Mathilde's dress and necklace. She finally felt good about herself. While going back home Mathilde loses the necklace.
- Oh my goodness you look so amazing. I love the necklace.
- Mathilde comes home to figure out that her necklace is missing. She becomes extremely worried. Mathilde and her husband decide to replace the necklace and give it to Madamme Forestier. Mathilde was poor and couldn't afford the necklace so she took a loan for 10 years.
- OH MY GOODNESS! WHERES MY NECKLACE. IT'S NOT EVEN MINE, HOW AM I GOING TO EVER PAY THAT BACK.
- After 10 years of hard work Mathilde and her husband finally paid off the loan, after selling their house and valuable items. in 10 years Mathilde looked very different. She looked much older than her age.
- Mathilde sees her friend near a lake and decides to confess to her that the necklace she gave back was a replacement. Madamme Forestier tells her that the necklace was a fake. Mathilde is shocked since she worked so hard for 10 years for something that wasn't even real. Mathilde is in disbelief.
- That necklace I borrowed from you took everything from me.
- WHAT!
- MATHILDE! is that you?what happened?
