- Nixon handed over the tapes but there were 18 minutes of missing footage that seemed to be erased, when they asked Nixon's secretary she said she accidentally erased some footage when transcribing it. This was clearly a cover up for something bigger, and they eventually publicly sold 800 copies of the 3-hour tape. These tapes revealed how Nixon wanted and how he would take down his political opponents.

- The tapes' vulgar views were seen by the public as an outrage. The vulgar words being said showed how rude and condescending the government officials where. This caused for a lot of people to agree that Nixon should be impeached but before he could be impeached he resigned
