- It was Christmas eve. Della was out at the shops and wanted to-no KNEW she had to get Jim something special.
- Della then came across a shop. Her hair was her most prized possession, but she would do anything to be able to get Jim a gift.She went in.
- Mme. Sofronie. Hair Goods of All Kinds.
- Then, Jim saw Della for the first time with her new hair. It was as though he was going through 5 emotions at once.
- They decided to open their gifts.
- Jim had gotten Della the set of combs she had been admiring for her hair. Della had gotten Jim a new chain for his watch. But Della had sold her hair to get the chain, and Jim had sold the watch to get the chain!
