- As the bus drives off, Stanley begins to realize what Camp Green Lake is all about. It is hot and dry, with barely any life in it. All he could see was tired, dirty kids digging holes five feet wide and five feet deep.
- Climax
- Stanley was accused of stealing expensive shoes that belonged to the famous baseball player, Clyde Livingston.
- Falling Action
- Zero offered to help Stanley dig his hole if he would help him learn how to read. The other boys did not like that idea and became jealous that Stanley did not have to work as hard as they did in the heat of the day. This caused a fight between Stanley and Zigzag.
- Resolution
- Zero ran away after hitting his counselor, Mr. Pendanski, with a shovel. Stanley stole a water truck to look for Zero. As he was being chased by Mr. Sir, Stanley crashed the truck into a deep hole.
- After having escaped from camp, Stanley and Zero figured out a way to get to Kate Barlow's treasure and take it with them. They knew they would never be able to go back to camp.
- Stanley finds the treasure in a briefcase. He and Zero were released from camp and they split the treasure down the middle. Stanley's dad was able to invent a cure for foot odor.
