Elizabeth Cady was a women's rights leader who fought against women's suffrage. While on her Honeymoon she met Lucretia Mott. The two of them vowed to hold a women's rights convention when they got home.
VOTING IN HERE
In 1848 the first women's rights convention was hosted by Elizabeth Stanton. The people who attended voted in support of all but one idea stated in the Declaration of sentiments, written by Stanton. The Declaration of Sentiments stated that woman should have all the same rights as men.
Seneca Falls Convention, 1848
"We are assembled to protest against a form of government, existing without the consent of the governed—to declare our right to be free as man is free"
Elizabeth Cady Stanton worked extremely hard and did great things for women. Sadly, it is a fight that keeps being fought. Stanton went her whole life continuing to fight and paved the way for women that will come ahead of her. We are still fighting for some of the same things she fought for such as equal pay.
