  • Divide all church land and make everyone equal!
  • Okay.
  • On the 15th of July, King Richard met with Wat Tyler once again at Smithfield. Tyler had requested the king to divide all church and land among the peasants and make everyone equal.
  • For these words, Wat Tyler would have killed him; but because he tried to do so, the Mayor Of London, William of Walworth…arrested him. Wat stabbed the mayor with his dagger. But, the major was wearing armour and took no harm. The mayor then struck back at Wat Tyler, giving him a deep cut in the neck.
  • One day, one of the king’s guard said out loud that Wat Tyler was one of the greatest thief in all Kent, and because of this Wat Tyler tried to kill him.
  • Then Tyler Watt saw one of the king’s land owner who was carrying a sword and told them to hand it over to him. Thankfully, at that moment the Mayor Of London appeared with twelve armed knights and drew his sword which hit Tyler on the head.
  • The knights then gathered around Tyler so the rebels could not see him. One of the King’s squires, John Standish, stuck his sword into Tyler’s stomach, killing him.
  • Despite that, the king rode out to them alone and the situation slowly calmed down. Eventually, Parliament stopped trying to control peasant’s wages and they were allowed to work for the best wages they could get.
